Details of the release ceremony for the Mount Hood National Forest Quarter has been announced by the United States Mint.

The festivities are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the World Forestry Center located at 4033 SW Canyon Road in Portland, Oregon, just a few miles away from the borders of the national forest itself. A start time of 10:30 AM (Pacific) is listed.

A coin exchange will also be offered following the ceremony, typical of other U.S. Mint releases. At the exchange, guests will be able to trade cash for rolls of the 2010 Mount Hood Quarters. Children 18 and under will receive a free new quarter dollar just for attending. Read more

Grand Canyon National Park Quarter

The United States Mint has published production figures for the Grand Canyon National Park Quarter which launched into circulation on September 20, 2010. The numbers show more were struck in total than the prior three quarters.

According to figures, 70,200,000 Grand Canyon quarters were produced. When broken out, 35,400,000 were made at the Denver mint, and 34,800,000 were manufactured at the plant in Philadelphia.

These numbers are subject to change. In fact, they have once, as did the Hot Springs quarters — both in September. As originally reported in June 2010, Hot Springs had the lowest mintage and Yosemite had the highest. 5 Ounce National Park Silver Bullion Coin Specifications Could Change

North Carolina Congressman Melvin L. Watt introduced and helped pass in the U.S. House coin legislation that would refine specifications and other requirements for the upcoming America the Beautiful Silver Coins. This year the series will feature four of the five-ounce National Park Silver Bullion Coins and one five-ounce National Forest Silver Bullion Coin.
