The United States Mint on Thursday, January 27, 2011, released rolls and bags of the Gettysburg National Military Park Quarters. The coins honor the national military park located within the state of Pennsylvania.

The first quarter issue of the year, and the sixth since the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program was released into circulation on Monday through Federal Reserve Banks. Gettysburg, a town synonymous in many people’s minds with the American Civil War, was the site on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, for the United States Mint’s official public launch ceremony of the Gettysburg National Military Park Quarter.

The brand new quarter features the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry Monument on the reverse side and the familiar portrait of George Washington on the obverse. It is the sixth quarter in the America the Beautiful Quarters® that started last year, and it is the first of its kind to honor a Civil War park. Read more

The US Mint published images of the reverse side of the uncirculated versions for each of the five National Parks that will be featured this year on U.S. quarters.

In the order that the National Park Quarters will be released into circulation, the honorees are Pennsylvania’s Gettysburg National Military Park, Montana’s Glacier National Park, Washington’s Olympic National Park, Mississippi’s Vicksburg National Military Park, and Oklahoma’s Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

Mount Hood National Forest Quarter

The United States Mint 2010 preliminary production figures for the Mount Hood National Forest Quarter were reported at 68.8 million. Final mintage numbers are expected within weeks.

These production numbers represent coins produced for circulation via Federal Reserve Banks as well as the rolls and bags of coins that are sold on the United States Mint’s website.

The Mount Hood National Forest Quarter is the fifth and last coin of 2010 in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.It was released on November 15, 2010. Read more
