Super-Sized, Eight Ounce Silver Park Quarters Proposed

The latest congressional National Parks Quarter proposal calls for a massive three-inch, eight ounce silver collector coin.

An amazing size that would quite easily dwarf current US bullion coinage — as a comparison, the popular American Eagle silver coin is an already large 1.598 inches with a single ounce of silver.

New Series of Quarters Proposed Featuring National Parks

A new series of circulating quarter dollar coins with rotating reverse designs has been proposed. The new series would highlight the national parks of the United States and have many similarities to the popular 50 State Quarters Program.

The series was proposed under H.R. 6184: America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008.

National Parks Bill Passes House

July 17, 2008

A bill calling for honoring National Parks on the U.S. quarter dollar coin beginning in 2010 unanimously passed the U.S. House of Representatives July 9.

Introduced as H.R. 6184 June 4 by Rep. Michael Castle, R-Del., the legislative father of the state quarter program and the territories program of 2009, it would provide for a program for circulating quarter dollar coins that are emblematic of a national park or other national site in each state, the District of Columbia, and each territory of the United States.

Commemorative National Park Quarters Pass House, Should the Senate Follow?

Congress has a new coin program on its plate. Rep. Michael Castle, R-Del,. legislative founder of the statehood quarter program, joined forces with the ranking Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee to sponsor H.R. 6184, as an omnibus measure that, if passed, will change the way we look at our change.

Mike Castle (R-DE) announced that he introduced H.R. 6184, America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 that would change the reverse of the quarter dollar coins to be “emblematic of a national park or other historic site in each State, the District of Columbia, and each territory of the United States.”

National Park State Quarter Series Comments by House Sponsors

Coin legislation was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives last week calling for the creation of another multi-year quarter series. The America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 (H.R. 6184) would try to draw on the success of the popular 50 States Quarters® Program by replication.

Starting in the year 2010, the bill would result in 5 new quarters per year that are emblematic of a national park or other national site in each State, U.S. Territory and the District of Columbia.
