American Memorial Park Quarter

The 2019 American Memorial Park Quarter honors the national park located in the United States Territory of the Northern Mariana Islands. It marks the forty-seventh release of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.

Coins in the program honor sites of national interest with a reverse design emblematic of the location. As such, the American Memorial Park Quarter will contain a reverse design showcasing a portion of the park. That design will likely not be known until late in 2018, however, after the Mint releases it along with the rest of the designs for the 2019 National Park Quarters.

Those final designs will be selected by the Treasury of the Secretary from design candidates presented by the US Mint. Those same design candidates will also be reviewed by the Citizen’s Coinage Advisory Committee and the United States Commission of Fine Arts for their comments.

Preceding the release of the American Memorial Park Quarter in 2019 will be the Lowell National Historical Park Quarter. Following those two strikes will be the War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter, the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park Quarter and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Quarter.

American Memorial Park information

The American Memorial Park is located in the Northern Mariana Islands – one of the five territories of the United States of America. The park consists of 133 acres of land and was officially established by the US Congress on August 18, 1978.

With the cooperation of the local people, the park was created as a living memorial to those who fought and sacrificed during the Marianas Campaign of World War II. This includes over 4,000 American military and local islanders who died in the campaign in June of 1944.

To fulfill the living memorial, the park offers many activities such as swimming, tennis, baseball and bicycling along with a World War II museum and a flag monument.
