War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter

The 2019 War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter will be issued by the US Mint as the third of five 2019 strikes of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. This specific coin honors the historical park located in Guam, one of the five territories of the United States.

The War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter marks the forty-eighth release of the America the Beautiful Program. A total of fifty-six coins will be released as part of the program before it is completed in 2021.

All of the coins in the series honor sites of national interest from around the United States and its territories. The program’s inaugural strikes appeared in 2010 with five new quarter dollars. Five new quarters are issued annual as part of the program including the 2019 National Park Quarters of which this War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter is a part of.

Two strikes will be released by the Mint in 2019 before the War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program – the Lowell National Historical Park Quarter and the American Memorial Park Quarter. Following the War in the Pacific Quarter will be the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park Quarter and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Quarter.

War in the Pacific National Historical Park information

The War in the Pacific National Historical Park is located on the island of Guam. It was established by the US Congress on August 18, 1978 and consists of a bit over 2,000 acres.

The park is unique among the others in the national park system in that it honors all of those who participated in the Pacific Theater of World War II. This includes the friendly forces of the Allies including the United States, Great Britain, Australia, etc. along with the opposing forces of Japan.

Included in the park are battlefields, trenches, caves and other historic structures used during the war.
