Issued by the United States Mint as the fourth of five 2016 America the Beautiful Quarters, product options include amounts of 40 to 120 quarters priced from $18.95 to 46.95.

Financial institutions cannot order coins of a certain design from Federal Reserve Banks, so new quarters can take months to years to appear locally in change. The U.S. Mint’s quarter roll and bag products offer one of the best solutions to getting them early and in large quantiles, though buyers will pay premiums.

Product Options

Each roll and bag contains circulation quality Theodore Roosevelt quarters. The coins are produced at one of three United States Mint production facilities:

  • the Philadelphia Mint,
  • the Denver Mint, and
  • the San Francisco Mint.

While the quarters are in circulating quality, they have never been in circulation. They come directly from U.S. Mint production plants. Product choices include single rolls, two-roll sets, three-roll sets and 100-coin bags. The table below offers a list of the available quarter products and their prices.

PRODUCT OPTION MINT MARK PRICE
Single Roll of 40 coins "S" $18.95
100-Coin Bag "P," "D," or "S" $34.95
Two-Roll Set, 40 coins per roll "P" and "D" $32.95
Three-Roll Set, 40 coins per roll "P," "D," and "S" $46.95

Mintmarks indicate which U.S. Mint facility the quarters were produced at with "S" for San Francisco, "P" for Philadelphia and "D" for Denver. The mintmark appears on the obverse or heads side of each coin.

Theodore Roosevelt quarters from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints will eventually appear in change, but those from the San Francisco Mint are made only for coin collectors. They are not delivered to Fed banks for distribution into circulation. Fewer of them, therefore, or made.

Designs on Theodore Roosevelt Quarters

Quarters share the same obverse portrait. Artist John Flanagan designed the effigy of George which has been on quarters since 1932. Inscriptions around the portrait are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "QUARTER DOLLAR," and a mintmark.

This fourth 2016 quarter shows an image of a younger Teddy Roosevelt on horseback surveying the terrain near the Little Missouri River. Inscriptions are "THEODORE ROOSEVELT," "NORTH DAKOTA," "2016" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Joel Iskowitz created the design and Phebe Hemphill sculpted it.

Official Release Ceremony

On Friday, August 26, an official release ceremony happened at the national park. The date corresponded to one day before the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service (NPS).

Officials from the U.S. Mint and NPS introduced the quarter to about 900 attending enthusiasts, including some 400 schoolchildren.

"This coin serves to memorialize the 26th President for his enduring contributions to the conservation of our nation’s resources, especially those found here in Theodore Roosevelt National Park," said Rhett Jeppson, U.S. Mint Principal Deputy Director.

Immediately after the quarter ceremony, First State Bank of Golva exchanged $18,000 in D-mint mark quarters‎.
