Acadia National Park quarters are the 13th released in the America the Beautiful Quarters® series that honors five national parks or sites annually between 2010 and 2020 and a final one in 2021. It is the third 25-cent piece launched for 2012 and features a reserve design depicting a scene of the national park located in the state of Maine. Specifically shown is Barbara Fox’s design of Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse as it appears on Acadia’s rough coastline.

Rolls and Bags of Acadia National Park Quarters on Sale

On sale now are two-roll sets of 80 quarters that include a roll of 40 coins in circulating quality from Denver and a roll of the same quantity and quality from Philadelphia — the two U.S. Mint facilities that are responsible for producing American coinage for use in commerce. Both rolls are sold together at a price of $32.95, which is $12.95 more than their face value.

Bags of the coins are available separately from each facility. Each bag has 100 quarters for a total face value of $25. The price point is $34.95, which is a premium of $9.95 above the contents.

While the quarters will eventually find their way into daily change, local banks cannot order coins by a design which makes it more difficult to get a specific quarter in any quantity — especially from both Denver and Philadelphia. That is a major reason why rolls and bags offered by the U.S. Mint are popular despite their extra cost.

Acadia National Park Quarters Three Coin Set

Produced for coin collectors and containing three Acadia quarters that will never be found in circulation is the Acadia National Park Quarter Three Coin Set. It pricing is $9.95.

The three coin set has a:

  • 2012-P Acadia National Park Quarter in uncirculated quality
  • 2012-D Acadia National Park Quarter in uncirculated quality
  • 2012-S Acadia National Park Quarter in proof quality

The letters noted by the date represent the mint marks of Philadelphia, Denver or San Francisco. Mint marks appear on the front, or obverse, of every quarter-dollar and tell where it was produced.

These numismatic coins not only have the special finish of proof or uncirculated, they come placed within an attractive plastic card with a photo of the park. On the backside of the card is a description of the national park and a United States Mint Certificate of Authenticity.

Where to Order

The rolls, bags and three-coin set may be ordered directly from the United States Mint website (http://www.usmint.gov/), or its toll free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

Also of note, rolls and bags of circulating quality San Francisco quarters for Acadia are expected out later this year. These will not enter circulation. The U.S. Mint announced this unique product for collectors last month.
